WORK WARDROBE: My style is pretty electric. A typical outfit for me one day could be a tuxedo jacket with leather skinnies and a bow tie or jean shorts with oxfords, a peter pan collared blouse and a vintage head scarf.
The most important thing for an intern at Elle was to wear comfortable shoes.
The most important thing for an intern at Elle was to wear comfortable shoes.
FAVORITE PIECE IN YOUR WARDROBE:At the moment I'm obsessing over a pair of Underground shoes I bought at Trash and Vaudeville on St. Marks Place. They are black and maroon zebra print creepers.
STYLE ICON: Kate Lanphear the style director at Elle. Not only has she incredible style, but she is really true to her own taste. Even when she is casually dressed in skinny jeans and her converse, she is always undeniably 'Kate' looking.
FAVORITE TREND FOR FALL: I'm still loving the menswear for women trend. I really liked Paul Smith, Yigal Azrouel and Jason Wu's take on the trend.
WISH LIST FOR FALL: In fantasy land? I want a Miu Miu collared coat and one of the large clutch bags. A Wes Gordon blouse with leather collars and cuffs. I want the black sheer lace skirt from The Row. Any shoes from Givenchy or Alexander Wang. I'd love a MaxMara coat because I would probably have it forever! I would like the opening look from the Marni show as well, I love that green coat. A velvet dress from Charles Anastase, a Craig Lawrence knitwear piece.. Anything with a collar, I love a good collar!
FAVORITE PLACE IN NY: I lived in Brooklyn and I'm really partial to it. Williamsburg, Greenpoint and Buswick are obviously where all the cool people hang out, but I loved Carroll Gardens and Ditmas Park area. Prospect Park and Park Slope are so fab as well. There was a great sense of community in Brooklyn, amazing places to eat and drink, great music. It was just a nice antidote to the hectic pace of Manhattan, and style wise was a lot more laid back. It felt a bit more London in a way.
FAVORITE NY DESIGNER: I really like Ohne Titel. It's interesting because I always thought that Calvin Klein and Helmut Lang were a bit boring until I lived in NY. Yet now I really appreciate how chic a really minimal look can be.
FAVORITE PLACE TO SHOP: Opening Ceremony It is a great mix of brands and they are constantly looking out for new and innovative designers. Stella Dallas in Williamsburg is good for vintage.
FAVORITE PLACE TO EAT: Tricky one! For brunch I would say Five Leaves in Greenpoint, the kale salad is to die for. Diner in Williamsburg is fab as well. Frankie Spuntinos, Peasant, Cafe Gitane, The Fat Radish, Spotted Pig, M. Wells in Queens.. the list could go on and on.
FAVORITE PLACE TO GO OUT IN NY: For drinks, there is nothing quite like a cocktail in the Boom Boom Room at the Standard. The views are absolutely amazing. When I left Westways was the hippest place in town.
FAVORITE MUSEUM: Has to be MOMA, purely because I love modern art. Also The Museum of the Moving Image in Queens has a Jim Henson and The Muppets exhibition which is absolutely amazing.
FAVORITE TIME OF YEAR:The Summer, for definite. During the Summer, there was so much on from outdoor movies to music festivals on Governors Island to sitting getting pleasantly wasted in a beer garden.
FAVORITE PLACE TO GET AWAY FROM CITY: The Hamptons - Beautiful beaches, great celebrity spotting, relaxed pace of life.. whats not to love?! Also Coney Island is a bit of a laugh - purely because of how far removed it seems from the glamour of Manhattan life.
love....
